Pint of Science!

Myself and Dr. James Millen bought the Quantum Workshop to our first ever Pint of Science talk! The theme of the night “Small scales? Big potential” discussed quantum mechanics and was organised by Kings College London at the sold-out Alexandra pub.

We double-teamed the talk, reminiscent of our time doing science communication back in 2013!

Here’s the juicy abstract: When you hear the word ‘quantum’, what comes to mind? Robot overlords, spooky action at a distance, multiple universes? Let Dr. James Millen and Dr. Ying Lia Li guide you through the mysteries of quantum physics, using data to convince you what is real and what we’ve yet to discover. They’ll navigate through the hype, using examples from their own research to explain why you might need to wait a bit longer to teleport yourself. Their goal is to de-mystify quantum physics, and focus on the quantum technologies which are being actively funded by governments and industries around the world.

Dr. Aliaksandra Rakovich also spoke that evening about nanomaterials.
