Vitae: The engaging researcher

I was kindly asked by Vitae to be interviewed for their series of videos called the 'Engaging Researcher'.  Vitae (https://www.vitae.ac.uk/) is a non-profit programme, part of The Careers Research and Advisory Centre (CRAC) Ltd with over 45 years' experience in enhancing the skills and careers of researchers.

I was really ill for the filming day but they were super understanding and came to London to film me in my basement lab at UCL (hence the horrendous colour balance on the video!).

Doing public engagement has been immensely fulfilling; as a Ph.D. student it also makes you realise how awesome your work is to the outside world & general public. Aligning mirrors all day might get boring, but when you're trying to create macro-quantum objects, people are like WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!
